Stepping inside Precious’s shed-turned-ADU is a breath of fresh air (literally!). The abundant windows and light blue walls create a bright and airy feel, making the most of the compact space. A strategically placed mirror near the entrance further enhances the feeling of spaciousness.

Precious cleverly designed her tiny house to maximize functionality. The full-size bed now occupies the space beneath the sunlight-filled windows, offering a peaceful and cheerful wake-up experience. The loft, originally intended to have storage underneath, now serves as a cozy reading nook with a library ladder adding a touch of whimsy.

Who says tiny living means sacrificing a great kitchen? Precious prioritizes her love for cooking by incorporating a full-sized fridge and apartment-sized counter space. An induction cooktop allows for quick and efficient cooking, while an air fryer replaces the need for a bulky oven. Ample under-counter storage keeps everything organized, and a deep sink with a sleek black finish adds a touch of modern style.

From She Shed to Investment

Precious’s shed-turned-ADU has served multiple purposes. Initially, it provided a comfortable living space for her, allowing her to rent out her primary home. Now, it offers a haven for her sister and nephew. In the future, it can be rented out long-term or even serve as a comfortable space for other family members.

Lessons Learned and a New Chapter

The project wasn’t without its challenges. Precious initially budgeted $25,000 but ended up spending closer to $50,000 due to unforeseen costs and mistakes from contractors. However, she views this as a wise investment that offers flexibility and financial security.
